My Turkeys

My 3 Turkeys. I feel like it goes without saying that I’m grateful for my kids. Even though I tease about them on here, I couldn’t imagine my life without them. So instead of just saying that I’m thankful for my kids I thought I would name one attribute about them that I love.

Up first is my sweet Paxton. I think anyone that has ever met this child has said the same thing, “He’s so sweet”, which he soooo is. Such a sweet spirit in this boy. But I feel like sweet is a little too generic to describe him. He has something inside him that most kids his age don’t. He’s an encourager. At his core, he loves to see others do well. I’ve never met anyone, adult or child, that is so genuinely happy when good things happen to other people. He’s the ultimate cheerleader. He loves to tell you how well you did, how good you look, or congratulations. I wish I were more like this. If you’ve never had someone cheer for you, you need a Paxton in your life. He can make you feel like a million bucks and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

Caitlin

Next is Caitlin. This girl is known as “The Truth-teller” in our house. If you ever want to know where you stand, just ask this one. Don’t be fooled by the doll face, she will wreck you. She calls it like she sees it and makes no apologies. She’s a good judge of character and wise beyond her years. My prayer is that she will never be afraid to speak the truth. We might need to work on the speaking the truth IN LOVE part, but I think that will come. I hope…

Somewhere she picked up on how to speak truth in sarcasm. Don’t know where she would have learned that behavior. Must be genetic. This one, she’s brave.

Lastly is Blake. The baby. My baby. This one is . He brings joy to our entire family. If you need to laugh or smile just look at Blake. He lives to be the center of attention and make people laugh. So much like his father in this way. We always say when he was a baby he was the bad crazy, but now he’s the good crazy. You never know how he’s going to be dressed when he comes downstairs or what dance move he’s working on when he thinks no one’s looking, but it’s guaranteed to make you smile. Our family would be a lot less fun without this one. He’s going to break my heart one day and get a girlfriend, but for now, he’s my baby.

Encourager, truth-teller, joy. I’m not sure I was any of those things as a child. I remember being quiet and reading a lot of books. But these kids have been given something from God that I could never teach them. This is who they are. This is how God wired them. I can’t believe God knew exactly the kids I needed and as it turns out, they’re exactly the ones I wanted too.

What’s one thing you love about your kids?
