Cake in a Cup.

For those who know me well, or follow me on Instagram (@cpallen216), you aren’t surprised that I’m thankful for this. Cake in a Cup

Cake in a Cup.

The single most genius way to make money on cake scraps. I don’t know if other places do this, but Puffy Muffin has been doing it for quite some time.

What they do is make ah-mazing cakes that are beautiful and delicious, then when they’re finished making these culinary masterpieces, rather than throw away the cake they didn’t use/cut off, they’ve figured out a way to capitalize on it. They use the leftover icing and cake and layer it in a to-go cup to sell it for $5 to people like me. People that can be wooed by cake and icing in any form. People who have very little willpower when it comes to real butter and sugar. People who need a hit of sugar like other people need crack .You had us at buttercream icing, Cake in a Cup.

The flavors are usually different every time, because it all depends on what kind of cake they’re making that day, and what scraps are leftover. The flavor that’s almost always there is the white cake with buttercream icing. And since I’m a purist, it’s one of my fav's. Don’t be fooled, though, I’ll eat any of them. Strawberry, caramel, and lemon make me swoon as well. I try not to discriminate, because when you need a hit, well, you’ll take what you can get.

The worst is when I go in and they don’t have any Cake in a Cup’s left. I’ve been known to literally turn around and walk out without purchasing anything. Clearly I have no shame. I probably should…but I don’t. I think I’m probably known there as “The girl who comes in for Cake in a Cup”. I’ve accepted that and moved on. I mean it’s not like I go every day. And when I buy it, I don’t eat it all in one sitting. And it’s not like I hide it in the back of the fridge so I don’t have to share it. Oh wait. I actually do. After reading this back to myself, I feel like a bit of an addict. That sounds like an issue for another day.

Today, I’m thankful for the Cake in a Cup. I’m thankful that someone came up with a way to save the leftover cake rather than trash it. Because wasted food is a tragedy, especially when it has the good icing on it.

Good Icing = Buttercream

Bad Icing = Cool whip

Buttercream > Cool whip

(This is fact)

What’s your guilty dessert pleasure?
